GAME OBSESSION EXPO

Weapons & Props Policy.

Cosplay & Costumed Guests please note.

1. NOTHING SHARP
Anything sharp or pointy is not allowed at the expo.  make sure all they’re all soft or blunt. (Authorised Medieval Reenactment Group members exempted)

2. NO REAL OR REPLICA FIREARMS

SA Law defines firearms under two separate categories, Toys and Imitation/Replica Firearms. Toy Firearms are generally sold in toy shops and are made in multiple colours and usually with brightly colour tips on the end of the barrels to clearly identify them as such. Imitation/Replica firearms mimic the actions, appearance and construction of the actual working weapon, and are considered dangerous to have in public, requiring licences in many state and territories of Australia.

Actual or Decommissioned Firearms, BB or Airsoft, Sports Weapons, Metal Replica, Cap Gun, Ammunition, Militaria/Collectors Pieces are NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES to be brought to Game Obsession Expo so please leave them at home.

Orange or Red Tip (either painted or taped) is requested for all firearm related props. A removable Orange or Red Barrel plug is acceptable.

If it looks TOO real, then it’s too much. This is in adherence with state laws, and even includes fake or toy guns. Please make sure your prop firearm has a fluorescent tip at the end to indicate it isn’t functional, We have tape at the Info Tent which you can attach to your prop if required. Refer to the state laws for what replica weapons are or are not acceptable in a public space. (see link below)

3. FUNCTIONAL PROJECTILES
No projectile firing weapons of any sort are permitted, bows must have the string loose.

All arrows must be sheathed and zip tied into the quiver

4. EXPLOSIVES/CHEMICALS/TASERS/LASER POINTERS
No fireworks, mace, pepper spray, laser pointers (with an accessible emission limit of greater than 1mW).

5. NO ANNOYING LOUD THINGS
Consider the comfort of other guests

6. NO GLASS PROPS

TWO ADDITIONAL RULES ARE A LITTLE LESS HARD AND FAST, BUT NO LESS IMPORTANT:

7.  NO PROPS THAT ARE EXCESSIVELY LARGE
If it is going to be difficult to carry & potentially a problem to others, leave it home.

8. NO HIGH DENSITY AND HEAVY PROPS
If it could be misused to cause injury it is probably unacceptable.

BEHAVIOUR POLICIES
  • You are responsible for your appropriate use of your props, anything which the organisers deem inappropriate may result in your prop being confiscated for the day.
  • Please direct any concerns to the information tent.
AT SHOW PURCHASES

Some exhibitors may sell props and weapons that fall outside the scope of our policies. In this case, exhibitors are instructed to sell these props in secure boxes at the expo. If you take a restricted prop weapon out of its box at Game Obsession Expo, you will be removed from the event without refund.

Some exhibitors or clubs will have specific exemptions with their props or behaviours in certain cases as arranged with Game Obsession Expo organisers, where we are confident of their safe use.
